Flavor is strongly hopped and bitter with a dry finish. Almost a little sour for me. brewblackhole (1386), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 6, 2008 Really have to troll for aroam here, the lightest of citrus hopping, which disappears followed by a grain aroma which I would not call typical of an IPA. taste at first seems to be bland hopping and weak malts ,but eventually a pleasnat citrus sweetness emerges with a nice hoppy bitterness in the finish . Wouldn’t refuse one Perm (151), Tryon, North Carolina, USA

Appearance: apple juice. Not as clear and golden as some, but still lovely. Thin head.
Nose: On the weakish side. Apples again. Faint citrus; fresh, floral hops, light malt. Inviting, if somewhat faint.
Taste: This is where it is beginning to shine! Nice, nice. Earthy, complex hop concoction. Black pepper, turmeric, lots of citrus. Lovely and drinkable.
Palate: Harmonious, lingering. Goes down the throat and begs for another sip to follow.
Overall: Not my favorite IPA, but the taste is quite fetching and keeps me coming back for more. Highland exhibits a high level of quality across the board. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2008 On Draught - somewhere in North Carolina.... Pours light amber, with little head. It’s light to middle weight, draws you in with nicely balanced hops and malts. Refreshing. OldMrCrow (1206), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours relatively pale, a honey yellow, with a long-lived white head. Disappointing aroma: grainy, some alcohol, hints of skunky pilsner, very small citrus character and not much else on the hop side of things. The flavor is somewhat better. Modest malts back a bitter hop close that is pretty much straight-bitter, not resin or citrus, just bitter, almost chemically so. On the positive side, it’s got a decent east-coast feel, relatively dry and not too badly tainted by any of the off-notes that dog the aroma.
Nonetheless, a relatively disappointing IPA. alexsdad06 (1136), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle puchased in Asheville. Pours clear copper in color with a medium sized fluffy white head. The aroma has moderately sweet caramel malt and moderate hoppiness (pine and floral mainly). The flavor is a mixture of much of the same: caramel malts with floral and pine notes. The smallest hint of fruit. Dry bitter finish. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Bottle from emacgee, I believe. Thanks!
Pours a semi hazy bright, light orange with a diminishing head. Smell is bland and light citrusy malt with no real hop presence to speak of. Taste is thin with a watery hop flavor and some orange citrusy characteristics. Nice moderate bitterness and more hop flavor in the taste than in the smell at least. Still something kind of dusty, musty and odd about this, as if it has an almost mold flavor. Drinkable.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2008 The aroma is not hoppy, its more on the spicey characteristic. The appearance is cloudy yellow, with dot bubbles. The taste is well balanced and rather chai, saison-like. Its bitter and more offset by spicey-yeastness than by the normal sweetness. Nicely done change of pace.
