Commercial Description:
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

dark brown with almost no head, smells like fresh nuts, very hoppy porter, quite refreshing at light without losing substance... a citrusy bitterness starts the taste and from there its hops and chocolate

Pours a dark brown with a 1/2 inch head. Aroma is roasty with some coffee and chocolate, but smells very lager-ish. Perhaps a little too much hop. Flavor is roasty, but the hop adds too much to that. Almost tastes slightly burnt. Not much else going on in the flavor department. Not a bad beer in the least, but not terribly far above average.

Dark chestnut body supports an attractive beige head. Aroma of chocolate, rolled oats, dark roast, and hops. Smooth medium body with some oatmeal softness. Taste has a nice bitter dark roast component complimented by notes of chocolate, oats, and fruity hops. Very nicely done and quite enjoyable.

Nice black pour from the bottle. A good head with some lacing. Strong hops presence with depth and maltiness that make this very satisfying. The first beer that I really liked and the reason I got interested in beer in the first place.

2008-10-14. Black body with brown around the edges, decent tan head. (4+) Dusty malt n the aroma, light sweet and roasty malt hints at licorice, very mild herbal touches. (7+) Similar flavour, dry cocoa kissed dusty malt, light herbaceous touches. (7+) Average to thin bodied palate is quite thin for a porter and probably the only significant flaw for me. Pleasant. Pours a clearish chestnut brown with dim red highlights. Aroma is a little lacking. Flavor of roast chocolate comes out as it warms. Not overly impressed here, but certainly drinkable.

Smells a bit roasty. Nice easy drinking. Roasty, a bit dry, not heavy at all. Quite tasty.
