Pours dark brown with a small head and a sightly thin appearance around the edges. Nice roasty aroma, coffee and some sweet red grape. The flavor disappoints slighty after this nice aroma: it’s a bit charred, a bit ashen-bitter, a mild sour funkiness, a whisper of smoke, but again that burnt bitterness in the close without enough residual sugars to drive it through. Overall it comes off thin and bitter (not lovely hop bitter, unfortunately) and I’m not impressed by this one, though it’s not that bad either.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Deep and rich brown pour with a very very fine head of small bubbles. Nose is slightly sweet and maybe some sweet malty notes. Taste is at first tangy and molassess sweet but resolves into a nice dry roasted malt happiness. Texture is a little thin, but okay. a nice beer.
