| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Bottle in Atlanta. Very nice. Super dark pour with a nice beige head. Coffee, chocolate and caramel are evident on the nose and in the flavor. Some good sweetness and a bit yeaty. Mouthfeel isnt quite as good as the flavor, but this is good stuff. Sweet aroma of caramel and some coffee. Flavor was similar, very sweet and somewhat bready with a hint of chocolate. A bit thin though. Tasty and enjoyable. OldMrCrow (1206), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours dark brown with a small head and a sightly thin appearance around the edges. Nice roasty aroma, coffee and some sweet red grape. The flavor disappoints slighty after this nice aroma: it’s a bit charred, a bit ashen-bitter, a mild sour funkiness, a whisper of smoke, but again that burnt bitterness in the close without enough residual sugars to drive it through. Overall it comes off thin and bitter (not lovely hop bitter, unfortunately) and I’m not impressed by this one, though it’s not that bad either.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Deep and rich brown pour with a very very fine head of small bubbles. Nose is slightly sweet and maybe some sweet malty notes. Taste is at first tangy and molassess sweet but resolves into a nice dry roasted malt happiness. Texture is a little thin, but okay. a nice beer. lithy (1850), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Pour is nearly black with a thin tan head that nearly disappears. The nose is nice roasted porter malts. I prefer oatmeal stouts to porters but this is a very good beer with light carbonation on the front of the tongue that transitions into roasted dark malts and some oatmeal flavor as it travels over the tongue. A bit of a bitter lasting finish. BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2008 The nose of this beer is nice considering the notable hop aroma. Hints of oatmeal, chocolate and biscuit. Flavor is more of the same with light carbonation. Poor head retention. Thinner body. Sour, roasty finish. Not bad. Very good looking porter, pours nice rich brown, aromas of hops, toffee, biscuits. It’s thinner than I wish but overall a great porter from these guys.
