Commercial Description:
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

This beer was disgusting. I had it once and it was all right so I bought it again and it was terrible. It may have been skunked, but it tasted like a rotten pale ale.

Bottle; poured a reddish brown; not as dark as most porters. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, and a very light dusting of chocolate. Palate was pretty weak; thin and almost watery. Flavor was good; caramel, oatmeal sweetness, and roasted malt. I think that the palate was a big turnoff for me. Below average for the style.

Had this one first in a bar, then tried it again at home. Both were in 12oz bottles. Great look, great taste, not too strong, mildly sweet, balanced bitterness, finishes well leaving you wanting more. This has entered its way into my normal beer selection I think, for I buy it occasionally. When I want a good dark beer, Highland is a good way to go.

Bottled, Received in Mystery trade 2.0. Nice dark brown pour, with some lacing. Some sweetness to it, slight roast, abit thin, but very drinkable, enjoyed. Thanks to Shp555 I believe for the brew!

Bottle. Medium, tan head that quickly went away. Average malt flavor for a porter, a bit thin on the palate for my tastes. OK in a pinch.

12oz via trade, thanks whoever you were. Pours very dark reddish brown with a nice 1 finger bubbly tan with a hint of brown head. Nose is lightly malty with a hint of dark chocolate. Taste is quite rich, robust and full of oatmeal flavors and really nice roasty toasty malts. This is a very good high quality porter. A little thinner than I’d like but its balanced with a prominent after taste.

This is my favorite from Highland. An easy drinking porter that is not too hoppy and not too fizzy.

Pours black with pretty large head. Smells like malt and chocolate. Smooth texture swallow with a weak watery finish. Thick aftertaste.
