Commercial Description:
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

bottle courtesy of ucusty. nearly black/dark brown pour with a fluffy tan head. aromas of roasty malts, chocolate, citrus?, smoke and a touch of molasses. flavor is a bit on the sweet side with wood and light coffee. mildly bitter finish with a slight coffee aftertaste. oatmeal texture is nice but i expected more

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium head. Aroma of coffee, roast, a bit of chocolate and rich, dark malts. Taste is very dry; roasted coffee-like malts and just a bit dusty. Dry finish. Medium to medium/heavy body. A nice one.

9-23-07. Black brown color with nice lacing. Smells fantastic, like oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa. Slight hint of bitter coffee in the aroma as well. Slight bitter edge but nice and smooth overall. Very enjoyable - just want a bit more of the creaminess.

Bottle thanks to ucusty. pours mahogany with a beige head. Smells of roasted malt and chocolate. Also pick up some alcohol notes. Very thin body...watery. Taste is roasted malt and is slightly bitter.

Big thanks to DrBayern for this lovely beer.
Pours just slighty less than an opaque black with a nice thick frothy beige head and some nice lacing as it empties. Smell is somewhat subtle, but deliciously of oatmeal, chocolate and roasty malt. Somehow feels a bit light bodied, but smooth and perfectly carbonated. Pretty easy drinking, and a nice dry chocolatey taste with the smooth oatmeal presence definitely there. Kind of like a liquid oatmeal chocolate chip cookie with a good bitter and sweet balance. Definitely a good beer and worth getting if you can.

Pours a very dark brown, damn near black. Surprisingly there are quite a bit of hops in the nose. Taste is slightly bitter hops with some roasted ash as well. Medium on the mouthfeel. Quite an easy drinking beer. Very sessionable, but not overly complex at all.

Poured a rich dark brown almost blackish. I’ve been drinking this for years and now i’m finally gonna rate it. aroma was a deep caramel, taste was some light chocolate and some roasted caramel with some bitterness in the aftertaste.
