Smells fantastic, like oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa. Slight hint of bitter coffee in the aroma as well. Slight bitter edge but nice and smooth overall. Very enjoyable - just want a bit more of the creaminess. miketd (685), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Big thanks to DrBayern for this lovely beer. Pours just slighty less than an opaque black with a nice thick frothy beige head and some nice lacing as it empties. Smell is somewhat subtle, but deliciously of oatmeal, chocolate and roasty malt. Somehow feels a bit light bodied, but smooth and perfectly carbonated. Pretty easy drinking, and a nice dry chocolatey taste with the smooth oatmeal presence definitely there. Kind of like a liquid oatmeal chocolate chip cookie with a good bitter and sweet balance. Definitely a good beer and worth getting if you can. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Pours a very dark brown, damn near black. Surprisingly there are quite a bit of hops in the nose. Taste is slightly bitter hops with some roasted ash as well. Medium on the mouthfeel. Quite an easy drinking beer. Very sessionable, but not overly complex at all. ucusty (1921), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

I’ve been drinking this for years and now i’m finally gonna rate it. aroma was a deep caramel, taste was some light chocolate and some roasted caramel with some bitterness in the aftertaste. obguthr (1076), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Aroma is equal hops and chocolate, with caramel present to a lesser degree, not very strong though. Black color medium tan coating head. Hearty grain and chocolate taste. Savory and paprika finish. This would pair amazingly well with steak, lamb, or venison. Excellent! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2007 I’ve enjoyed this brew more on tap (if memory serves) than in bottle. It’s a nice, solid porter with the desired chocolate malts. But there’s not quite enough of the fullness of body and character I want in an oatmeal brew. The slightly thin mouthfeel and insufficiently complex taste docks the score. Good quaffer for the cold months, though. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
