Not quite pitch black, more of a liquid see through black with a rice crispy treat colored head. Nothing from the nose, it smells of water and carbonation, I might as well smell a glass of soda water. Flavor is dry copper and processed Hershey’s cocoa powder. This is empty and leaves me wanting. A horrible mint taste is there at the end. just saw how far i differ from what others experienced and i will rerate next chance i get

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2006 Dark red/brown color with a medium lasting tan head. Aroma is roasty and chocolaty with a hint of cereal. Flavor is balanced with roasted grains and chocolate. Lighter in body than some porters, but not to the point of taking away points. A good brew. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Nice crown head on top of the black body. A good amount of lacing. Typical aroma for a porter: coffee, burnt, toasted, but little in th eway of hops. Didn’t smell much that would label this an "oatmeal" porter. I would’ve expected a little more bread/dough aroma. Taste was good, but not great. A nice little bit of coffee in the long finish. MullMan (1086), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

Very heavy roasted malt flavor. Finish is bitter, slightly dry, with some hints of pepper. There is a very strong aspirin like aftertaste that I am not digging.
