Dark brown pour with a fluffy and craggy 1" head that indicates a nice full body. Deep chocolate and roasted malt nose with some notes of licorice. Flavor is as equally deep as the aroma. Chocolate and roast, nicely balanced finish with a stronger licorice aspect. Oatmeal addition really does alot for the mouthfeel, much fuller and rounder than many Porters. Perfect level of carbonation as well. My second beer from these guys and second solid effort. Oatmeal just slightly tweaks the style and yields an original creation. jah noth (1017), Rochester, New York, USA

Deep red in appearance with a fluffy, off-white head. Roasted malts, licorice, and bitter chocolate swarm the senses with some bitterness on the swallow. Enjoyable! A great porter. Thanks Blackie. I tend to enjoy porters, but this beer was extremely disappointing to me. Trying to pinpoint the issue, I think it might lie in the aftertaste. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Beer pours moderate mahogeny color with an initially large creamy tan colored head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of roasted malt and oatmeal. Flavor is a enjoyable melding of smoke and chocolate, with some bittering hops in the finish. An enjoyable beer. Thanks to Jimbo for throwing this one in as an extra on a trade we did. Prost Jimbo! bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 22, 2005 this was recommended to me by the 21 year old bar tender as his favorite. pours dark and had a sparse tan head. little to no noteable nose. mouth feel was medium bodied with little roasted malt characters. suble hop feel . very thin and dead for a porter. maybe they added a half a pint of water to mine. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2005 Pours near black with reddish hues and a massive foamy tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, toasted malts, Taste is dark bread and chocolate. Not a whole lot of roastiness, not to the extent of tasting like coffee. The oatmeal helps to soften the roast malts, but it is not very noticable. The finish is bewildering. Spicy, resinous hops leave me questioning the nature of beer itself.
Mouthfeel is light with medium carbonation. A bit thin compared to most porters, but it doesn’t detract from the overall package. bmanning (142), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Pours like a coke with no head and pour lacing. Full malty sweet aroma of caramel, chocolate, coffee, and a hint of fig. The flavor is decent, has a good grassy hop balance to the sweet malty taste. But this beer is just way too weak and tastes watered down. Very thin palate - it’s like this is a light porter.
