Commercial Description:
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

this was recommended to me by the 21 year old bar tender as his favorite. pours dark and had a sparse tan head. little to no noteable nose. mouth feel was medium bodied with little roasted malt characters. suble hop feel . very thin and dead for a porter. maybe they added a half a pint of water to mine.

Pours near black with reddish hues and a massive foamy tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, toasted malts, Taste is dark bread and chocolate. Not a whole lot of roastiness, not to the extent of tasting like coffee. The oatmeal helps to soften the roast malts, but it is not very noticable. The finish is bewildering. Spicy, resinous hops leave me questioning the nature of beer itself. Mouthfeel is light with medium carbonation. A bit thin compared to most porters, but it doesn’t detract from the overall package.

Pours like a coke with no head and pour lacing. Full malty sweet aroma of caramel, chocolate, coffee, and a hint of fig. The flavor is decent, has a good grassy hop balance to the sweet malty taste. But this beer is just way too weak and tastes watered down. Very thin palate - it’s like this is a light porter.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown, nearly black. Very small white head that disappeared quickly. Predictable coffee and chocolate aroma accented by caramel. Smooth feel. Malty, but not overly so, and well balanced with the hops. Slight coffee after bite. Oatmeal flavor came out as it warmed a little. I gotta say, we make some tasty porters here in NC.

12 oz. bottle. Brown/black pour, medium, short lasting brownish head. Roasted malt nose with little hop aroma evidnet. Feels a little on the thin side. Coffee flavoe with and underpinning of malty sweetness that is quickly overtaken by spicy/piney, and bitter hops. Dry finish. A good, but not great, porter.

Poured dark brown, with an off0white head that dissipated quickly, leaving little lace. The aroma was malty, with chocolate notes, and the flavor was about the same. A little bit of hops in the finish. The oatmeal comes through a bit in the palate. Overall, I’ve had better porters, but it was certainly drinkable. The price was a bit much for what you get in return, though.

Bottle. Jet black in color with a nice tan head that was a little fizzy for a porter. Milk chocolate/caramel nose with a hint of hops. The flavor was roasted, chocolate, caramel with a hoppy balance. Light bitterness and a light chocolate aftertaste. Medium body.

A good dark beer. Very malty with a sweet smoothness that’s not oppressive. Not very hoppy at all. Full thick body.
