Jul 18, 2005 This was a very good oatmeal porter. Very sweet and dark. Great texture not as thick as a stoudt as reflected by the porter tag and that adds to the goodness.

Jul 1, 2005 Pours a dark brown, small off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, and a little oatmeal. Flavor is tasty, chocolate and oatmeal, very nice balance.

Jun 27, 2005 12 oz bottle-thanks to Singlelensref for this one. pours almost pitch black with a smooth beige head like a nitro pour. big roast, anise, some char and chocolate notes in the aroma. the taste is more like a dry stout with some nutty roasty characters. There is also a touch of smoke on the aroma as well. more aromatic than flavorful. i must note that this bottle is contract brewed in virgina by Wild Goose brewing company, so its not really a NC beer...

Jun 22, 2005 Dark brown and ruby body. The tan head is thick with small bubbles. The aroma is caramel, chocolate and a little coffee. The taste has roasted peanuts and milk chocolate. Nice.

Jun 16, 2005 (Thanks to Drew for hooking me up!)Dark brown body with red edges. Fat laces on the glass. Malty and sweet aroma, with notes of chocolate and crystal malts. Soft and sweet. Lots of oatmeal make this one smooth and mouthfilling. Turns just a bit dry on the finish, but the oatmeal sweetness still lingers. Quite quaffable.

May 29, 2005 Deep dark black and sparkling - just too look at it, you might be confused - is it a stout or a schwarzbier? Short off white tan head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty, maybe a little bit of chocolate. Taste starts off good, but the body is a little too effervescent. A nice mellow brew to sip on.

May 11, 2005 Obtained in a trade today with Jonathan3584. Pours very deep brown with a nice tan head that settles to about an eighth of an inch and laces the glass well. Aroma is sweet chocolate, coffee, and burnt malt. Flavor is sweet but more like oatmeal than like chocolate the roasted maltiness is delicous and lends way to a nice bitter finish. This is very balanced, smooth and creamy and kind of thick for a porter. It coats the palate well. I found this a delicious porter and I’m very glad that I had a chance to taste this NC beer via trade.
