| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2005 pours a dark brown, but not totally solid, with hints of amber, a thin layer of tan cream head stayed on the beer the whole time. has a very malty aroma, nothing else really going on there. a little sweetness, alot of maltiness in the flavor, just a tad taste of chocolates towards the end. a little bitter on the tail, and it stays in your mouth after each swallow. a medium body, with a nice mouthfeel. this was my first brew from this brewer, and i am looking forward to the rest of their fare i have in my cellar.
thanks to goldtwins for this. darkko (99), Kingsport, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Roasted malt aroma. Low carbonation with medium head that settles out to a thin layer. Color is black. Mouthfeel is pleasant with a rich maltiness and light bitterness on back of tongue that fades almost too quickly. Overall, a very good oatmeal porter that I will definitely buy again. Can’t wait to try Highland’s other ales. CaptainCougar (5538), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma of sweet caramel corn and chocolate milk with a touch of roastiness. Starts malty and sweet with a smooth chocolatey mouthfeel leading to a semi-sweet, sticky roasty finish. A very nice porter, thanks goldtwins! Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 17, 2005 Dark dark reddish brown, nearly black, Small frothy head. Mild hoppy finish. I’m definitely tasting some coffee on the end, but it’s definitely malty sweet and a little bit fruity to start with. I’m afraid my beer’s a bit cold to get much in the way of aroma. I’ll have to re-taste at a later date. Heh heh heh. ToadMan (554), Washington, Washington DC, USA

It is the smoothest and best mouthfeel I have ever had. When you want a world class porter, look no further.
