| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2008 12oz bottle. Cloudy deep golden color. White whispy head. Aroma of big citrusy hops. Very pleasant hop aroma. Flavor of nutty, caramel malt. Bitterness adds a good bit of balance. Tasty and a perfect session. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2008 This is one smooth drinker! I didn’t care much for the smell, but it has a light hoppy flavor and goes down very easy. Thanks to emacgee for the bottle. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 6, 2008 12oz, bottle, well this too is rather boring, this has a bit more hop forwardness than some other Pale Ales, but nowhere near Alpha King, this one is easy drinking or rather easy gulping, moderate taste, and yet another brew i’ve gotten to try from Highland. redlight (1499), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2008 I think I might have enjoyed this more than the kashmir? This had a lot more hop flavor, more citrus flavors with hints of pine, while the kashmir is more just straight bitterness. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Bottle at brewery... They packed in the Cascade on this one... the brewer said they have had mixed reviews of this one because some fans of Highland thought it was too hoppy. Crazy talk if you ask me, but if someone is more in line with the malty scottish ale, I can understand. Good basic beer from a great brewery. Ughsmash (4099), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear lighter orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up softer caramel and grapefruit sweetness supporting a mellow pine and citrusy hop presence. The flavor picked up sweeter caramel surrounded by mildly bitter grapefruit and some pine at the end.. simple and very drinkable. Lighter-bodied and refreshing on the palate.. well-balanced. Nice one. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2008 This is super drinkable, but not the most incredible APA that you will ever drink, but as far as local brews go this is well done for NC. Grapefruit nose, with some really well balanced caramel maltiness. Hints of citrus, and finishes on the lighter side. You can drink more than a few of these and not feel your palate is overwhelmed.
