Commercial Description:
Our Scotch-style ale, named from Norse mythology, combines the heritage and tartan of our brew team. The roasted barley and chocolate malt lend a bold flavor to this delicious dark beer. Its increased hop level is a modest departure from a true Scotch-style ale. We hope you agree this is a beer worthy of the name Tasgall, "Cauldron of the Gods."

Solid beer... probably my favorite Highlands beer... I think they are about to make this one a seasonal. Pours dark brow, some orange tint to it. Nice tan head. Malty aroma with some smoky notes. Definitely a scotch ale... malt all over it, but a decent amount of hops for this style. Nice caramel/peat like finish. It has a touch of high gravity sweetness, which I usually don’t care for, but this one does it right. Just enough to give it a great flavor, but not be cloying. I will pick up more of these on my next trip to Asheville.

Bottle, blind tasting thanks to beastiefan2k. Aroma is some fruity sweet malt, but also eastern european malt. Flavor is not as sweet as some other scotch ales, and has a slighty strange burnt herbal finish.

Thanks to Jeff for this beer. Pours out a dark brown with slight red. Decent sized off white head. Aroma is of some caramel, roasted malt, and a few earthy notes. Flavor is complex with a nice mouthfeel. Flavor is caramel, roasted malt, earthy moss notes and some alcohol on the finish. Not bad

bottle.....pours an opaque dark brown with reddish hues with a light brown head.....aromas of caramel malt and toffee.....flavors have much of the same along with a nice lingering sweetness. it finishes off with a modicum of bitterness by way of the hops....a pretty succinct review for a pretty tasty scotch ale. consider me one with the crowd on this one.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown with ruby highlights and a small quickly fading head with no lacing. Aroma of candied dates, caramel, and a hint of floral hops. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, and a hint of roasted malt. Medium mouhtfeel with mild amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

22 oz bottle thanks to my SS07. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a soapy off-white head. Hops pine, and grain in the nose. Old grain. Malt flavors. Chocolate, burnt toasted malts. Anise grains, a little peat. Decent beer but nothing too exciting.

This is a ridiculously tasty beverage! Huge maltiness, that is really chewy on the palate, with a lingering hop bitterness in the finish. Butterscotch, brown sugar and cinnamon finish out the spice profile, but seriously this beer drinks like a meal.
