Commercial Description:
Metheglin is derived from the Welsh word "meddyglyn" which means healing drink. In ancient times, healing spices were added to mead resulting in a drink with healing powers. Lavender, believed to promote good health, is also soothing and relaxing and is associated with romance and seduction. Possessing a beautiful golden color and a bouquet of fresh lavender flowers, this slightly sweet mead can be enjoyed heated or paired with desserts such as blackberry cobbler.

Pours a clear light pale straw with no head. Aroma is pungent floral and spice. Flavor adds lots of honey sweetness, but maintains the massive amount of lavendar. I don’t really have much experience with meads, but this one is quite enjoyable.

Bottle from Hill Top 04/04/2009. Clear golden yellow body with no head and thick legs left down the glass. Very sweet honey and lavender aroma with some fruity hints. Very sweet honey flavor, more lavender, some fruit and a bit of grape hints. Medium body with no carbonation and a smooth slightly syrupy finish.

Pale yellow body with a nice herbal aroma. Taste has a nice lavender tang to it, sweet and a bit thin from what I normally expect in a mead. Ending is clean and floral.

375 mL bottle from the meadery. Pours a clear yellow color. Very strong lavender in the aroma, almost bitter, with sweet honey notes to balance out the bitterness. Taste is less but still very strong lavender. Still nicely balanced by the honey. Tart finiish. Very interesting.
