| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of daknole. Pours an opaque black with a generous tan head. The aroma is rich with multilayer coffee and mocha sensations. The flavor does not quite live up to the aroma there is plenty coffee but it is a bit of an "old grounds" taste. The finish is long with lingering coffee. The mouthfeel was just a bit thin with an acidic quality. Overall: I really the aroma of this but the taste just did not measure up. Still, a fairly good brew. Thanks dakine. tmoreau (597), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2009 On tap at the Bavarian Lodge, Lisle, IL. Served in a trappist glass. A rich, black/brown pour with a thick, foamy, light brown head and solid, clingy lacing. The aroma was roasty, with bitter espresso and dark chocolate and a little cream mixed in. The flavor was also roasty, bitter, espresso, baker’s chocolate, with a little molasses thrown in. Full bodied with a rich, silky mouthfeel. Impressive variation of the style. dogfish120love (277), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

Poured a great looking deep brown--almost black--with a light brown head that lasted forever. Aroma of cigarette smoke and coffee. Tasted of roasted grains, soil and had a vinegary aspect to it. It was a good brew but kind of funky. gunnfryd (3603), Kristiansand, Norway
