Commercial Description:
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Basically black. Tan head. Roasty, vegetal chocolatey aroma. Rich character. Burnt bitterness. Some vegetal bean stuff, hints of scorched cherries. A bit too heavy on that vegetal character - good espresso does not taste like that.

Bottle from Sam’s. Pours black with a small tan head. Strong coffee, dark fruits, cocoa, and char throughout. Velvety mouth feel with a nice warm and roasty finish. A very tasty beer overall that I will definitely have again.

A good solid strong stout, alyhough it has minimal coffee nose or flavour. It does come out more as it warms up however.

Bottle. This beer smells awesome. Loads of coffee accents of vanilla, some coco, and chocolate. Never gets sweet just overpowered by the coffee bitterness and hints of vanilla. A must try a treat.

I have a very bright LED light and I shined it on the other side of the glass. . . couldn’t even see a hint of light. No joke. Caramel, chocolate, hint of mint and strong coffee flavor (I don’t like coffee yet I like this beer). One of if not the best Coffee beers that I have ever had. More than full bodied, perfect dark, and delicious. Buy me.

Bright and powerful espresso edge, pretty acidic and sharp. Soft earthy character to it, almost like charred chocolate and oak in the finish. I enjoyed this beer after the initial overwhelming espresso sharpness dulled my palate. Its a nice stout, just with a massive coffee edge.

Creamy stout with a powerful chocolate flavor. The palate has a slight smokiness which has a alcohol overtone. This stout is deep and thick with a viscous body. There is a deep dark borwn head with a moderate lacing.

Dark brown with large tan head, long lasting despite receding and leaving lacing all over the glace. Nose reminds of Founders, vegetal bean deluxe, some tobacco and smoke, and yet there’s also this odd raisin/burnt sugar scent. Flavor carries more tobacco and coffee, and probably vanilla. As it warms, vanilla and chocolate are well-incorporated, so it’s never singular and over-bitter. Moderate sized body, rather creamy. It doesn’t go as far overboard with the coffee and thus allows room for other stuff, and so I think I prefer it to Mikkeller’s and Founder’s. Still, coffee stouts aren’t really my thing.
