AgentSteve (889), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jul 15, 2008 Pours like an Impy- viscous black with a full, dark tan head that leaves substantial lacing. The nose is largely coffee of course, and a bit of malted chocolate. The flavor is just as the nose with a clean dryness in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel.
blankboy (2687), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 20, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a large lasting frothy tan head. Aroma: Weird, I get jalapenos first and foremost followed by espresso, dark malt and a hint of chocolate. Flavour: Again I’m getting jalapenos, which is odd I think, along with espresso, some chocolate and light hops. Average roasty/bitter finish. Medium bodied. The jalapeno aspect of this beer doesn’t belong here in my opinion, it’s a detriment to what would otherwise be a good Stout -- as it is I find it just O.K. -- I am obviously in the minority though based on most of the other ratings, oh well, different strokes and all that... Oakes (6999), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 19, 2008 Basically black. Tan head. Roasty, vegetal chocolatey aroma. Rich character. Burnt bitterness. Some vegetal bean stuff, hints of scorched cherries. A bit too heavy on that vegetal character - good espresso does not taste like that. TURDFERGUSON (1177), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Nov 2, 2008 Bottle from Sam’s. Pours black with a small tan head. Strong coffee, dark fruits, cocoa, and char throughout. Velvety mouth feel with a nice warm and roasty finish. A very tasty beer overall that I will definitely have again. jonno (211), Japan Nov 2, 2008 A good solid strong stout, alyhough it has minimal coffee nose or flavour. It does come out more as it warms up however. Rciesla (1107), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Nov 1, 2008 Bottle. This beer smells awesome. Loads of coffee accents of vanilla, some coco, and chocolate. Never gets sweet just overpowered by the coffee bitterness and hints of vanilla. A must try a treat.
