Decent hang time w/ full canopy residual lacing. A mildly roasted aroma w/ some souring. Medium nectar w/ soft residual effers. A refined specimen. Possesing a silky texture and the flavor profile mild. Charcoal, coffee been, iodine, steak, w/ a bit of a sourness that turns to leather. A very mild hop profile. The finish is bittered w/ a lingering leather essence. oldrtybastrd (1823), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 11, 2006 bottle. Intiriguing aroma. Reminicent to the aroma of Samiclaus. I was expecting alot from the aroma but it didn’t live up to the hype. Dark poor with almost no head. Sweet and smooth with slight sugary aftertaste. One of the better japanese beers I’ve had(not saying much). Good summer time stout? redlight (1496), Winter Park, Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2006 A big, khaki head settles in a foamy dollop over a body that can honestly be called "black", with a hint of cola-coloring around the edges in bright light. Strikingly aromatic, but with scents that don’t normally precurse consumption. There’s a floral presence in the aroma that fades and returns and reminds me of spring... tulip or apple blossom. An underlying scent is of new electronics... like when you first open up the box with your new VCR. The overall aroma, however is sour, and I’ve smelled diner coffee like this before where it’s been sitting on the wamer all night and develops a strong bitter/sourness. If that weren’t enough, there’s also some chocolate, caramel and spruce notes when agitated. Flavor is sour and bitter (much like the coffee part of the aroma dictates) and a bitter finish feels dry with some light, spicy zest. No lactose detected... I was expecting a little cream & sugar in my coffee. I really enjoyed the tricks this beer played on my nose, but my tongue simply shrugged its shoulders.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2005 rich brown in color. thick darker tan head. Aroma roasty, but also very Ricey. Sort of has the aroma of green tea. The flavor is certainly sweet, but not overpowering. There is a nice balance of sweet, roasted malt, and carbonation which makes for a very clean drinking brew. I think the brewery achieved what they were after and created a great beer. The beer is nothing LESS than a 3 in my opinion. jon112981 (327), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA
