| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Feb 24, 2005 Pours indeterminate blackbrown, oily, "head" disappears in seconds. Aroma of unmixed heavy dry malt, honey, and cherry syrup. Flavor of sake. If this were a "Sake Stout" and not "Sweet Stout," it would be fantastic, but it tastes just like Choya (the one with plums in the green wide-mouth bottle) with a dash of burnt molasses. Not a winner. I think I’ll pour the rest of this. Bleccch. No wonder it was on clearance from $8 to $1.95 a bottle. hotstuff (3183), Indiana, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Feb 20, 2005 Bottle. Medium tan head that mostly diminished, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Malty, chocolate, sweet, and a light coffee aroma. Flavor was sweet, light coffee and chocolate. Did not taste very good for this style. Smooth mouthfeel. Light-medium body. Not recommended. rudolf (1789), Buffalo, New York, USA

Brown-very dark light tan head. Nose is richter sour-brown ale. Floral. Flavor is grape soda, caramel. Like it lots more this time around but it’s still not great.

Also Sour Milk and Cardboard Coming Out. On the Tongue...Metallic....Starts with Coffee Roasts and Quickly Changes Mood to Creamy Sour Milk at the End. Not Enjoyable at all. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Feb 11, 2005 Black color with a thin, rapidly vanishing head. Aroma of slightly sour milk. Uh oh... Nasty, turned milk in the taste. There was some slight coffee and bitterness, but it’s overwhelmed by the wrongness that is the Lacto. Bleh. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 9, 2005 12 oz bottle: full, growing off-tan loose bubbled head above a dark, poop-brown body. Strong herbal, peppery aromatics; roasted grass, charred pine cones and scalded chocolate milk. Fizzy, sour and acidic on the tongue. Roasted coffee flavour with loads of herbal bitterness and metallic notes. A unique, though not all that enjoyable beer for me. Inveigler (371), Ferndale, Michigan, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 30, 2005 A little lighter in color than most stouts. Some noticable sweetness, but their is also some sour milk arouma. A strange and rather unpleasant aroma. The flavor is better than expected, but it sits strangely.
