| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 28, 2005 Draft - some roast and malt in the nose. Typical appearance ... black body with a beige head. Almost looked like a nitro pour, but was not. Roastyish with some chocolate. This beer has the nice round mouthfeel that is typical of a milk stout. Fairly bland. IndianaRed (1562), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 17, 2005 Bottle Pours a dark brown (pretty light for a stout) and a light tan fizzy head that receded quite quickly. Barley any maintained for any real lacing. Definately a fairly sweet chocolately smell, bvut fruity as well. Like prunes or raisons. I think the aroma is rather like "the duchesse" flemish sour ale. Flavors are plain, slightly smokey and uninteresting. Thin watery palate. Very soft carbonation. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 2, 2005 Pours deep dark brown with lots of white floaters, lasting foamy brown head. Sour nose with a trace of milk chocolate. Thin body and really fizzy. Candy sugar, roasted malts. Faint coffee. Soured milk sugars are evident throughout. Sweet chalky floury finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2004 This pours almost black with a creamy brown head. The aroma is nice and chocolatey with burnt malt. The drink is creamy with chocolate and roast malt flavoring garnished with a hit of tartness. I don’t catch the coffee until the finish. Not bad, considering how little I cared for the other beer that I’d tried from this brewer. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Dec 22, 2004 Strong, phenolic, licorice aroma with some chocolate like underlying sweetness. Fizzy brown head dissipates to ring the dark brown almost black body. Chocolatey flavour seems chalky with some lactic tartness. Watery body with fizzy carbonation that dies on the tongue. It’s infuriating that this brewery can produce some real gems as well as some real duds. Bottle. Zach Diesel (907), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2004 oaty/fishy aroma, pale brown, extremely oaty and graininess creates an almost chalky mouthfeel, light body but overall I kind of enjoyed this beer for its unique character BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 9, 2004 Dark opaque body, thick head formation. Strong vinous, fruity aroma, choclote with hazelnut notes. Chocolatey, milky flavor, mild dryness but really very little balance, complexity or depth. Very disappointing, I wish I could have marked it lower but the appearance and aroma were excellent.
