Because of the addition of lactose to the mix,it has a creamy note as well. I think if were you I would more than likly skip it! MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2004 Good old stout looks, black with a creamy head. Aroma is a strong roasted/smoky malt scent. Behind that is hidden that milky scent. Now the flavor, which I must say is mighty pleasing. You first there is the crispness of the malt, then a silky smooth dairy feel in there. The mouthfeel is very smooth, as to be expected in such a brew, but this does indeed please the crowd, mostly because it is not over done. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 18, 2004 pours a deep brown/black with a very big head that is extremely short-lived and leaves no lace. nose is a nice mix of chocolate, sweetness and suprisingly subdued roast. flavor is smooth and sweet, but lacking adequate roast or hop balance, leaving beer somewhat cloying and hard to drink. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 5, 2004 fairly dark brown with some reddish/brown notes when held to the light. head is initially HUGE, but diminishes into nothing pretty damn quickly. aroma is partially roasty, but more milky than anything. flavor is heavily milky, moderately roasty, VERY slightly chocolately with lots of notes of milk on breakfast cereal. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Apr 25, 2004 Very active carbonation and has no head at all. Dark as night. Smells of honey, apples and pecans. Tastes like an Imperial stout. Has nuts and a strong Granny Smith apple sourness. The sourness detracted from the others tastes. Not pleasant. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Apr 18, 2004 Aroma was sweet, molasses with a hint of caramel. Poured a deep black, with a quickly diminishing head. Smooth feel, but this beer lacks in complexity. Seemed almost tasteless to me, a little sweet, but that was about it. The finish seemed sour to me. Didn't like it very much. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 3, 2004 Dark, but translucent, brown with a thin, tan head. A very interesting nose that sweet, sour and slightly salty. I keep thinking red wine, even though that doesn't seem right. All this atop the acidity, chocolate and lightly roasted coffee. Thin to moderate body. This is a really interesting beer. The flavor is not bad, but I never get the feeling that this is "good." There is sweetness and some roasted character. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, vinous notes, and an intense acidity that makes things so unique. Probably not as bad as most think, but don't mistake that for good.
