Single bottle: Taste: Sweet milk stout. Okay, not great. There is some complexity to it as the lactose sweetness comes together with malt, hops, and small chocolate and coffee flavors. It all leaves an aftertaste like a glass of slightly sour milk with some hops thrown in for bitterness. I found the Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout overpowering and too bitter and this a little too light and milky for me to really like it a lot, but I would drink it again. Appearance: Black, no head. Just like the Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout and the Nest White Ale, which were better than this.

Dark pour, low carbonation. Sweet, caramel, roasted aroma. Just a little sweetness in the flavor, light/medium bodied. Tastes like a normal stout, with almost a roasted coffee flavor, and then with a little cream poured in. Well balanced to my palette.

Bottle. I was surprised that this beer was rated as low as it is. Not that it’s anything special, but anyway - dark pour with a head that doesn’t last. Roasty nose, with a woody/mushroomy musty quality. Really thin on the palate. Flavor is subdued and the finish is a little meager.

Little or no head, aromais slight cocoay malt with somekind of metallic flick, taste is an old coffee bitterness ,with a milk starting to turn sourness, which completely overpowersand sweetness trying to get through, bitter sour taste left in your mouth. no thanks on this one

33 cl bottle from Plaza Liquor - Pours a dark brown color with a 1/2 finger thick tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, light dust, and dark esters. Flavor is chocolate, esters, and faint smoke. Medium body. A decent beer, but not worth the $4 I paid for it.

621ml Bottle: Sweet aroma. Smells of roasted malts, chocolate, wet paint, plasterboard, and brett. Poured dark brown/black in color with a huge, rocky, foamy, medium-brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Medium sweet and slightly sour flavor. Tastes of chocolate malts, chocolate, cream, and a little coffee. Medium body. Thin, dryish texture. Soft carbonation. Dry, sour milk finish.

10 Sept 07. 330mL bottle, 4% ABV. Very dark black-brown color. No head whatsoever. Faint aroma of sour milk. and malts. Flavor is very sour milk, not too much malt. Flat carbonation. Light watered down coffee bitterness. Medium textured body. Somewhat disappointing... hope it was just a bad bottle.
