This is pretty decent overall, not crazy about all the spices, but the mouthfeel is nice, subtle carbonation, has a bit of woody flavor almost like it was partially barrel aged as it warms. Not sure what I think of this one. Will have to try it again down the road. thornecb (1804), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2008 Pours amber into a tulip. Head quickly fills the glass and leaves thick lacing as it slowly...slowly recedes. Upfront yeasty funk and crisp. Well-balanced think middle and a lasting yet dry coriander and citrus finish. Like a funky english barleywine. ogglethorp (890), Ohio, USA

Aroma is caramel, sweet fruit, vanilla. FLavor is spicy, like maybe coriander, caramel, sour apple, nutmeg, vanilla, yeast. Palate is medium to full bodied, medium carbonation, finished somewhat earty and dry. Surprsingly very good. tnkw01 (211), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

It has a pleasant spicy aroma that smells just like the description "Orange Peel, Coriander, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, and Vanilla Beans". Highly recommended. KimJohansen (7135), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 17, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a fully diminished white head. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 14, 2008 330 ml, 2004 vintage. Glacial brown sugar head sits atop this foggy, chestnut-colored beer that also has some ruby highlights. Aroma is a nice mixture of caramel, boiled blackberries, vanilla, and an earthy spice mix. Flavor is earthy spices with some old (mildly salty) leather, caramel apple, dried wood, a small dose of brown sugar, and slight rum. Medium body is a bit too frothy-airy from the huge head, but has a pleasant dry-woody finish that balances the malt and spices well. Shogatsu!
