Reddish glowing multicolor orange amber balloon in a snifter. Produces bubble-layer head. Aromas of coriander, giner snaps, vanilla. Moderate sourness promised by the aroma, with hints of gentle home baked cookies. The logo, an insane traditional japanese guy with a beer, rules. Quite sour and bitter, like a very hard apple cider, and with plenty of coriander and bittering hops. Definitely a sipper, bitter and sour in turns, with enough spice and beer flavors to keep you in its grasp.

Spicy orange blossom nose with vanilla wafers and cinnamon cookies coming thru. Nicely balanced and complex palate. The spicing is up front but not overpowering. Nicely done.

2006 bottle. Almost unfathomable amount of sediment in this hazy amber beer, super thick and creamy beige head. Strong aroma of coriander, orange, children’s bubblegum, orange peel, citrus - sweet and spicy. Lots of malt. Also has notes of wheat and herbs. Taste is even more complex - the above mentioned aromatic notes are all there, dominated by maltiness, but with additional alcohol kick and a dark, organic earthiness which bitters passionately. Mid-level grapefruit. Aftertaste reminds of unsweetened darjeeling, only spiced to death. Very dry and overly spicy. Medium-thick vinous body. Definitely a sipper, buds can’t handle the taste overload. Bold and totally original.

2005 bottle. Spicey malt aroma, faint fruitiness, almost barnyard. Cloudy redish orange, wearing a tiny white head. Flavour is fruit, nuts and caramels. Light bodied, pleasant mouthfeel. Very good. Thank You joey_capps.

bottle, 2004. Large cappuccino colored head. Once it settles( and it took a while) the beer looks like brownish apple cider. Definently some nutmeg cinnamoness going on in the nose. With a tart caramel flavor that goes across the whole palate. Definently a little bit spicy, but not overwhelming at all. I can also tell that this is 9%. I don’t want to say that the alcohol flavor is in the forefront of this beer, but it definently isn’t the undercurrent.

2004 bottle. Poured a chunky, murky reddish-brown with an explosive creamy beige head... stuck around for quite some time. The nose was rich and slightly sour with coriander and nutmeg spiciness... bready and toffee malts.. and some gentle herbs. Flavor was a tad sharp and sour... bready, dark fruity, and caramel malts for an almost syrupy backbone and bunches of spices (coriander, white pepper, and mild vanilla bean come to mind).. lemon zest toward the finish for a sweet and tangy finish. This improved quite a bit as it approached room temp.

Bottle. 2005. Hazy brown-orange with specks of yeast and a medium white creamy head. The aroma is quite nice - lots of spices, pumpkin, caramel dustiness, cherries, and alcohol. Woody backbone with alcohol warmth and flavours of caramel, dark sugar fruit, and balanced by flavourful spices. I didn’t really get the vanilla that was suggested by the label. Unique and tasty overall.
