Spicy citrus aroma with hints of cinnamon, vanilla, lemon zest and orange peel. Very carbonated but still has a creamy medium body. Light fruit notes of cherry, lemon, orange peel, with hints of vanilla spicy cinnamon and slight alcohol warmth in the finish. The ABV is very well masked.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 17, 2009 2009 bottle. Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head over a hazy amber body. Aroma has some sourness and vinous notes, mint, spices, and florals too numerous to mention. Taste is belgian yeast and slightly sour, belgian candi, spices, and sweet spices including nutmeg and vanilla. Foamy/lively bubbles and a dry mouthfeel. A bit of a convoluted mess really. blutt59 (2186), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2009 Copper color. Spiced nose of cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and orange peel. Heavier mouthfeel than most other Hitachino beers. Flavors are of a typical winter/holiday ale: Sweet and bitter with spice. Not bad. Probably my favorite of the Hitachinos. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 4, 2009 I’ve been nursing this beer for over an hour at Redlight. It is on draft here. Base beer seems like a typical tripel with a bunch of spices added in. Some sweet ginger snap flavoring in there. Really nice. Like a cookie.

leave it to the japanese to take a perfectly good wheat beer and add half a christmas cookie recipe to it. i’ve never been a huge huge fan of their beers, but i always order them because they have an owl on the bottle (pretty!) ... i kid i kid...
but seriously, spice and citrus in the nose. it’s a really good looking beer, pours with a nice thick head. alcohol characteristics are present but not overwhelming. lots of spice, cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg the most. quality. just not for me. dkachur (2435), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 27, 2009 11.2 ounce bottle from Plaza Liquors in Johnson City, TN (adjacent to Libation Station). Pours a hazy ruby color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is toffeish malts, wood and lots of spice, with nutmeg and citrus particularly showing through. Taste is citrus, dark malts, wood, vanilla, spice. Almost liqueur like. Alcohol makes its presence known, and is warming, but the beer is not hot. Full bodied with fairly strong carbonation. I’m liking this one a lot. Well done.
