Commercial Description:
A dose of fresh ginger roots added to the brewkettle creates an intriguing mix of ginger, malt-sweetness , and citruslike aromas and flavors Hoppy dryness is very subdued with ginger-sweet-spicey notes dominating throughout to the very finish.

Bottle. Hazy, copper-mahogny with a creamy tan head. A bit of paper and spice aroma. Deeply spiced flavours together with some fruit. Ginger for sure. Not convinced about this one.

Full review with photos and links to other reviews: http://beer47.com/2009/04/kiuchi-hitachi review: Appearance. This beer has a foamy but not frothy yellow-white head and does not leave much foam on the glass. This beer is hazy, which might be expected of an herb/spice beer, and has an amber or dark honey color. ----- Smell. Real Ginger Brew has a ginger aroma like that of ginger ale or ginger beer, which is a sweet smooth ginger smell. The bouquet is spicy with a bit of cloves and is enhanced by the ginger while accompanied by a light fruitiness. ----- Taste. The most pronounced taste of this beer is sweet malty ginger. Backing the ginger beer flavor is a sweet maltiness that is complemented with a touch of smooth hop bitterness. As you drink more of this brew the spiciness of the ginger builds but not so much that is it overpowering. ----- Mouthfee Real Ginger Brew is well carbonated, which adds to the comparison to ginger ale, and is a medium-light bodied beer. Drinkability. This beer is strong in alcohol content and strong in ginger flavor. On one hand it is crisp and refreshing like a ginger ale but also like a ginger ale I rarely want more than one.

Had on tap at the Gingerman in Norwalk. It is certainly a ginger beer and I once again give Hitachino props for spreading out. It pours a cloudy amber with a nice head. It smells malty with some citrus, certainly ginger notes and a bit of hops. The taste pretty much follows the aroma with the ginger dominating a hint of hops. A nice unique brew but not really my style of beer.

Pours a hazy golden hue with a big bubbled. slight off-white head. Aromas of ginger, skunk, hoppy bitterness, and plastic. Mouth feel is medium bodied with flavors of ginger, lemon/lime 7 up, a nice bitterness with a dry finish. Would go well with sushi.

Bottle from case and keg in Boca. Pours a hazyamber color with a light whitish head. Aroma is full of fresh ginger and pale malts. Flavor hits with too much ginger. As the beer warms the ginger subsides a bit and you can get some fruity malts and hops. Overall an interesting beer...but not one I would drink again.

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is pretty strong of ginger and some sweet malts. Flavor is of ginger, with a hint of some hop flavor. Finishes slightly bitter with plenty of ginger as well.
