| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Very hazy amber color with a decent beige head. Aroma is ginger. Medium body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is ginger with suppressed malt. The malt is really like aged. Like barleywine malt. Old and mellow. It is a great ale. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. Medium amber/orange color, small white head, many small particulates, floaters. Hoppy aroma with hints of light toasted malt. Light to medium bodied. Had an initial oxidized flavor, light ginger taste in background. Some spiciness and hops flavor. I would say this is just average but the originality earned it a point or two. Might be better fresh and served with sushi. motelpogo (4399), Plzen, Czech Republic
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2008 bottled. copper with a minimal off-white head. gingerbread aroma, no surprises to find plenty of tart ginger flavour but it’s well balanced with hints of nutmeg and licorice and never gets too sweet or sticky PilsnerPeter (2667), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2008 Bottle: Hazy amber pour with a small light tan head. The aroma has a pronounced ginger presence, with lots of lemon-herbal character and chamomile. Pretty much that basic Hitachino spiciness that you find in all their spicy offerings. Smooth body, with a flvor that is dominated by herbal character. Spicy ginger, lemon, honey, chamomile, and a subtle malt sweetness is detectable through all the spices. Also has a late sweet spearmint hint. Interesting stuff, just a bombardment of spices though. Trev (887), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 31, 2008 Pours a cloudy reddish gold with a thin off white head.
Aroma is strong ginger and a slight citrus hop underneath.
Flavour starts with a lively ginger fading into a flat malt flavour. Slightly bitter finish with a lingering ginger flavour.
Not quite doing it for me... 17thfloor (1507), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 19, 2008 Pours a murky reddish brown with a fine thin head on top. Wonderful fresh pickled ginger aroma with lots of sugary maltiness too. Crisp tangy ginger on the front of the tongue quickly dried out by a strong yeasty woodiness. Not extremely spicy. The 7% is completely hidden. The ginger is in a really great balance, just barely sweet and spicy enough to actually work. Long lasting sweet ginger finish. A fuller body than I would have expected, slightly syrupy with fine light carbonation. I love fresh ginger ale and I love beer... so... Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 18, 2008 An amber appearance on this one. The aroma contains some caramel, ginger, and cinammon. The flavor is rather malty with some ginger and hot spices. This beer is not my speed but its ok I guess. JohnnyJ (1352), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 16, 2008 A very interesting beer. Definite spice and ginger in the aroma. Flavors where sweet malt, ginger, spice, pepper, and hints of citrus and earthiness. This is a very well done spiced ale, surprisingly well balanced.
