Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale

Served in a very interesting glass, it pours a massive frothy head. Pale red in color, floral and faint clove aroma. Sweet flavor with slight cloves and a little bit of coriander perhaps. Not that good.

Draft at Redlight. Pours a strange color I cannot figure out with a thick creamy head. Tart creamy, floral orange aroma. Creamy smooth malt body taste. Strange brew, but I enjoyed.

Draft at Redlight. Clear rose copper, small white head. Mild floral and earthy notes from the red rice. Some band aid. Kinda weird. Have to retry the bottle.

Draft at redlight redlight. Peach in color, fairly thin. Strong note of mint in the nose. Also hints of this Asian candy I had once but can’t remember the name of. The flavor is mild. Fairly refreshing. Very subtle hints of fruit, possibly berries or apricot. Notes of sticky sweet rice. Different, nice, but could be a little bolder.

Murky light plum-amber with modest, creamy white head / Candied rice nose / Medium body, somewhat sweet and syrupy, with fat malts/rice with some dry hops on the good, slightly hot, finish / Flavors of sweet red rice reminiscent of Japanese sweet bean cakes / Not my taste, but a well made and ultimately interesting brew. Reminds me of some equally quirky Dogfish Head concoctions.

Cloudy golden color, white head. Malty, sweet, acidic scent. Sweet, rice, malty taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Sugary aftertaste.

Very good. Reminds me of a harvest pilsner wheat beer. Best Japanese beer I’ve had. Absolutely beautiful color. Really enjoyable.

Bottle. Poured a hazy golden with a frothy white head. Aromas of rice, citrus, and apricots. The flavor found rice, spice, and a light roasted malt. Light to medium body.
