Aug 31, 2009 bottle: pint glass: What a gem of a brew, I could not be happier to have tried this for my 200th rating. It’s beers like this one that continue to keep me interested and looking forward to the amazing brew styles out there.
The beer pours a cloudy, strawberry red leaving a very thin head ring. The nose: I can’t describe. The taste: I can’t describe. The beer is an experience I have never had before... the flavors and scents are completely novel. There are clearly rice notes here, much like those in sake however I did not pick up too much floral. Picking up some high esters on the end. Vegetable? Fruit? There is definitely something natural, something earthly....I’m feeling ancient right now... thanks Japan.

Aug 21, 2009 Raspberry pour produced an very small ivory head and left no head to speak of. Guess I should have known better with rice in the label but was intrigued. Light, sour, and fruit-filled. Another disappointment.

Aug 10, 2009 Straw yellow and opaque in color. Rice on nose with sake also. Unfortunately I got a bit of skunk and bleach as well. The flavors were better with notes of sake, saison characteristics, and some funk. Clean, not bad, not great either.

Aug 6, 2009 Bottle poured a clear light reddish amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, starch, yeast and light fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of rice, yeast and light fruittiness with a smooth fruity finish.

Jul 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours a copper color with reddish pinkish hues. Almost shimmering. Mild aroma, not picking up too much here. Taste was pretty dull, some sweetness, the sushi chef at seabar said he could taste the red rice & gave me a pretty cool history on red rice vinegar. Interesting but not not too complex.
