Very unique and bold...but not too bold. Tastes like something I’ve just never had before. Truly makes up for World War 2. I’ve tasted hundreds of craft brews, and this always ends up as number 2. Not bad, considering I’m a very picky baby. sleepingbear (27), Lake Leelanau - Detroit, Michigan, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2006 now i’m definately the minority here. but i thought this beer was flippn great. the color was reddish orange with an off white pink head...never seen this unless it was a fruit beer. nice fruit enveloped nose of sweetness, rice, plums, and bubblegum with a belgianesque yeast character when the beer is cold as it warms more fruit flavors evolve. nice fruity hopped palate of full bodied feel. this beer is much more complex then the rates suggest for a smaller abv beer and a very atypical beer. what a refreshing find....something completely different from the norm. as VENOM states a humdinger of a love-hate for beer geeks. But this was such an outlandish brew. I loved it! So typical to Japanese culture. I would gladly buy a case of this brew! VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 1, 2002 Hazy light peach. Foamy white head. Little carbonation. Aroma of sake, strawberries, fairly medicinal alcohol. Foamy, clean and slightly medicinal. Light body. Sake flavor mixed in with light malt sweetness. Spicy hops build in the aftertaste. Tastes more like sake when you first sip it. ABV is hidden quite well. Grainy aftertaste. Creamier body with the yeast swirl found at the bottom of the bottle. Phenolic flavored sake elements. This is really interesting. Thankfully we sampled sake beforehand, which was quite essential in differentiating the aromas and flavors. This is a humdinger of a love-hate brew. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 27, 2003 Interesting, in a good way, and an excellent idea to use rice as a legitimate component rather than a cheap adjunct. Reddish copper, with dense creamy white head. Tangy, fruity, with a definite slightly nutty flavor of high-quality rice. Aroma reminiscent of sake, and as it warms some sake-like flavors emerge. Some slight bitterness on the finish. There's an oddly Belgian feel to this beer, as well. I'd like to know if they used a beer yeast or sake yeast, and if they added koji to make the rice fermentable. All in all, very nice stuff. wingman333 (244), San Antonio, Texas, USA

Very crisp. The sweetness tastes much like cherries. I have liked the three samples I’ve had from this brewery, I just wish the price was lower, as I would buy more.
