Hazy gold body with white disipatting head. Flavor has a zesty soapy sourness along with some banana. Slight sour lingering aftertaste not bad of a beer. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Aug 5, 2007 33 cl bottle, Fargo. Golden amber colour, cloudy, heavy clove, spice and sweet aroma. Very carbonated, sour flavor (perhaps it was off), light bodied, wouldn’t have it again. Fish (439), Kure, Japan
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 4, 2007 On tap at the brewery. A pale gold color with a lasting head. Aroma is yeasty and a little spicy. Flavor is initially quite sweet (moreso than the White Ale) and less appealing to me for that reason. This caramel sweetness gives way quickly to the spice and slight bitter. Crisp and refreshing, particularly in the Japanese summer heat, but the White Ale has a lot more balance and subtlety. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 4, 2007 bottle. Lots of yeast. Tad sour. Good looking hefe but positives end there. Sourness seems to dominate. Huge banana & clove aroma but doesnt really find itself in the taste. Liked their wit so Im dissapointed a bit in this nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2007 11 oz, pours cloudy orange-gold with small head that immediately disappears. Aroma is sourish apple-grape and maybe some malt? Taste is similar, plus some spices. Coriander, cinnamon (?) and some other flavors I would look for in a Belgian and even some acetic, lambic-like taste! No banana or clove anywhere near this one. The palate is refreshing, and the taste is OK, but just so unexpected. Either the style has been misidentified or this one is a few months (or years) past its prime. It may be the latter, as the bottle I have has a different look except for the bird. acearl (215), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 27, 2007 Most memorable was the bits of yeast or wheat or whatever was floating si evidently throughout this this golden pour with mininal white frothy head, had an overpowring citrus tang with pepper touches, slight bitter aftertaste, banana and clover were afterthoughts, lively carbonation with watery texture, below average from a less than average brewery. I like Hitachino, particularly the packaging but this may have been a manufacuters defect.
