Sediment in bottle leads to a murky yellow pour. Small white-yellow head that fades quickly. Aroma of banana and clove; smells like a HefeWeizen. Too lightly carbonated for the style. Definitely has the banana clove Hefe flavor as well, but there is something else that is wrong. Almost a tart or medicinal taste. PorterPounder (3138), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Picked up at Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah, Ga. Light orange, slightly clear, pour with absolutely no head. Aroma has a stale vegetable quality to it that is somewhat disconcerting. Mouthfeel is somewhat sticky and unpleasant. Flavor reminds me of fruit cocktail if I had to pin it down, not the flavor I look for in a beer. Dissapointing. brentfeesh (1038), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2004 Got this on sale...And it looks nothing like the bottle in the picture...So who knows how long it was there...Also, Had this with a sea food dinner as I thought it was a Weizen. Not what I expected... Poured an off yellow with lite browns. No head, and slightly cloudy. The Aroma was Belgian esk. With spice and grass. Tasted of sweet grass, candy, and wheat grain. The body was initially bubbly, but ended with a smooth and mellow finish. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 18, 2004 Butterscotch diacetytl aroma with some notes of sulfur does not bode well. Clear copper-amber colour with two finger white head that reduces to cover. Sour lemon up front becomes sugary and fades to vanilla sweetness. Some sulfur in the aftertaste. Strong carbonation pricles the tongue. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily. Bottle (purchased at Half-Time Oct-04). Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2004 A hazy honey colored beer with a small off-white head. I just finished a very tasty and aromatic Weizen from Kitakami Wakka Brewery, this smells even better. Rich banana, spice and hazelnut!? Banana with thick sweet malts, hops peek through in the finish. A good Weizen and a great Japanese made beer! I will be driving back to Ibaraki Prefecture this Spring to buy more of everything Kiuchi makes! piscator34 (1130), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2004 This one came in a very large and interestingly shaped bottle. The beer itself is orangy in appearance and giving off some interesting aromas of pink grapefruit, lemon, and spice. It has quite a fizzy mouthfeel and a bracing citrusy bite. The flavors are of various citrus fruit, yeast, and spices like coriander, pepper, and others. Quite complex, and perhaps more like a wit in flavor than a hefeweizen. There was no banana or clove that I could detect. Still, quite a nice beer. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2004 One of the finest bottles currently on God’s Green Earth, a unique shape and utterly cool cartoony owl staring at you from the silkscreened label. 24.3oz.
Appearance: clear, pale yellow, with a huge, fluming, bubbly whitish head.
Aroma: everything a weizen ought to be, fresh, lively, spicy, and full of citrus, lemon, orange, a bit floral, and a touch of straw.
On the palate: we get some tasty wheaten texture, but not too much, very minimal. Body is light, hops and malt are downplayed. Finish is swift, but nice. A good weizen, nothing great, but you’ve got to applaud Kiuchi for upturning stereotypes and proving, if it needed be, that Japan can turn out fine examples of the world’s classic styles.
