Different than other beers I’ve had of this still, almost a spice beer in flavour, licorice root present there? Sweet, but very spicy. Not as citrusy or full as I would have liked. Very unique. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 24, 2006 bottle. Aroma: Heavy perfume-y floweriness, herbal tea, lemongrass, ginger, coriander, and some light yeastiness. Appearance: Medium golden in color and hazy. Head was white and rocky, but didn’t last long. Not much lacing. Flavor: Orange juice and zest, ginger and coriander, light breadiness with some yeast. Palate: Light bodied and a bit watery. Strong carbonation. Overall: A pretty good version of a witbier, with some interesting differences that make it stand out. TheBeerOrg (1586), Kentucky, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Pours bright golden with a fully receding off-white head. Aroma of chamomile, tart fruits, almost brett-like, flowers. Taste of chamomile, orange peel, and yeasty esters. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Strange, but enjoyable. holdenn (1444), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2006 12 oz bottle pours a whitish yellow with a very then head. It has some witbier aromas lemon and ginger. I’m not puckering my lips but the flavor is surpisingly sour, more sour than most witbiers i’ve had. Lots of citrus mostly lemon and a little orange come through, yeasty and tart. The fizziness bounces off my tongue leaving a few bitter spices. Very nice. shrubber85 (2966), Wallhalben, Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Bottle. Pear and ginger aroma. Cloudy pale yellow with a small head. Spicy (cinnamon and ginger) pear flavor as well. Strong acidity that bites the tongue. Another unique beer from Hitachino - a Witbier with a Japanese twist. EithCubes (2166), Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 26, 2006 Bottle. Thick hazy yellow pour with an excitable white head. Strong aroma is very sour with a little detergent, cardamon, and citrus. Flavors repeat in the taste, with a pie cream and crust, and perhaps a little coriander on the side. A little yeast. Quite dry with some tartness. Medium body comes off as light, balanced, and complex. Spices linger in the aftertaste. This is worthy of some serious discussion. A somewhat exotic take on the Wit base, extremely interesting! wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Cloudy yellow with a thick off white head. Hints of orange juice, corriander and nutmeg come into the aroma. Taste is the same with it becoming more orangy as it goes down. Very smooth and refreshing mouthfeel. This is very good. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Bottled. Pours a hazy straw color with a white head that recedes to a ring of foam. The aroma isn’t strong, but contains a bit of cloves, lemon, ginger and bubblegum. The body is light with fizzy carbonation. The taste is lightly sweet/sour oranges with a dry and barely bitter corriander finish.
