BitchesBrew (698), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA May 14, 2008 [bottle] Golden yellow in color, clear. Floral, sweet honey is immediately in the aroma, followed by some mild lager yeast character. Malty, sweet flavors blend well with the impressive honey character. I’ve never had a beer brewed with honey that seemed to showcase the particular variety used like this one does. Impressive. Finishes with some nice contrasting herbal bitterness.
KyotoLefty (113), Kyoto, Japan Sep 2, 2008 A bottle from Julius Meinl in Vienna, 2006.
Cloudy, dark golden color. Rather small head. Sweetish aroma of malt and honey. Very malty like a bock, but with decent hopping. Fruit flavor as well, prunes? Very nice balance. Finish of alcohol, honey, malt. Not overly sweet, which is a surprise. Very nice.
