Volo – Cask Fest 2009
Appearance: light amber haze with large rocky top.
Nose: Mild , light nose , hints of cream and butter. 5-
Flavor/Palate : Sweet , clean , candy feel. Raspberry sugar with hint of caramel. Such blend works pretty well here. Sweet, friendly sugars with strawberries on end.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Deep clear amber with a small frothy off-white head. Smells like whole wheat toast, peanut butter and sweet malt - very biscuity. Tastes a bit like chocolate and pumpkin pie crust (graham) - weak alcohol, and slightly harsh - ehh. Watery, slightly slick mouthfeel, mildly spicy and a bit vegetal - smells pretty good, otherwise ... meh.

On cask @ Volo cask days: Appearance: Light ruby red, small white head. Aroma: Peanut butter! Strawberries.. wow, it really is peanut butter and jam! Bizarre. Flavour: Initially the jam, then the peanut butter begins to surface and as it warms up a nice maltiness comes forward ending in a nutty malt finish. I also had this three days later from the same cask and it had taken on a very earthy and malty tone. Delicious stuff.

[2554-20091031] Cask. Strong aroma of peanut shells and something lingering on fruitiness. Clear, dark amber body with a quick bubbly white head. Some more fruity nut malt comes out in the flavour and finishes like a chocolate hazelnut concoction. Medium body is smooth. Really interesting, aptly named.

Volo Cask Days 2009. This was interesting, Some sweet malts come through, touches of vanilla, and you can really smell the peanut butter. the flavor had more peanut butter, and the same sweet malty base they use in their brown ale. Im not finding any jam, but this beer was an intense sweetness in the end. Really when you get down to it, its a pretty messy beer, not unlike pb and j being a messy sandwich.

Cask Days 2009 @ Bar Volo, Toronto, ON: Let me first note that this idea was stolen from inside my brain as a PBJ beer has been a homebrew idea of mine for a while now. A mid-brown with red pour, little bit of head. Great PB&J aroma that caused a chuckle amongst our crew, nailed it here. Definitely more PB than J in the taste with natural, roasted peanuts quite noticeable. Lighter than I’d have liked mouthfeel but better than expected all around. Still, one thinks it could be improved...

2009-10-31. Dark brown body with a small beige head. 3+ Very nice aroma, sweet, light toast and roast, modest sweet peanut butter ball like peanuts and chocolate character, light spice like note I think might be nutmeg but I do not think is really there. 7+ Flavour has a similar light spice character throughout, not quite peanuty note, brief Halloween peanut taffy character, sweet malt core. Very light fruit, I did not get much of the "jam". 7+ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. Light carbonation but surprisingly full bodied for a cask. 3+ I expected this to be gimmicky but it was surprisingly quaffable. Cask at Volo Cask Days 2009

Volo Cask Days 2009. An interesting experiment that worked. The aroma of roasted peanuts. Bubby head on reddish brown body. Subtle tastes of peanuts, maybe a hint of strawberry. At most a pint, an interesting novelty, and one that breaks up the pattern of the same ask styles. Average mouthfeel.
