sayravai (3183), Helsinki, Finland Dec 28, 2006 (Bottled) Red-amber color with a medium head. Smooth-caramely aroma with dried fruit and grainy malt. Caramely-grainy-malty flavor with slight roastiness and licorice hints. Medium to full-bodied, smooth but foamy-carbonated palate. An easy and quite pleasant dubbel. On the sweet side, but ok.
motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic Jan 27, 2007 bottled. copper colour, sweet, slightly medicinal aroma. semi-sweet, brown sugar, a faint earthiness and unexciting finish. pretty average for the style Hunsell (398), Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 5, 2005 Brownred, large head that stays. Caramel aroma, slightly tart, fruity. Taste is more fruit than caramel, again, slightly tart. Pretty wellbodied. Interesting and surprising. Very good beer! Somehow reminds a little bit of Corsendonk Pater eczematic (1170), Sydney, Australia Feb 28, 2005 lovely smell, very "brown" smelling with all things sweet, malty and earthy. plenty of caramel. taste is very sweet, simple round malt and caramel - nothing exciting at first, then you gradually notice a faint rodenbachy musky redskins flavour. also there is a bit of minty, peppery hop presence, just enough to dry it up in the finish but not enough to be actually bitter. a well made beer i say, not pretentious but original enough. reminded me of tongerlo brune which also has that combination of caramel sweetness and a hint of brett. jerohen (1478), Bussum, Netherlands Feb 4, 2004 Bottle conditioned, BB 03-09-05. Hazy amber/brown coloured, nice head. Caramel malty aroma. Caramel flavour as wel, sweet with some oak. Hoppy finish. Balanced brew.
