Bottle. Moderate malt notes of milk chocolate and caramel, musty and leather for the yeast, light herbs for the hops, with hints of alcohol and allspice. Head is small, frothy, off-white, with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic. Palate is medium, watery, and has a lively carbonation. A pretty good Abbey Dubbel.

Bottle. Aroma of nuts, pear, some hints of dark fruit, candi sugar, and, um, bacon??? something salty and a bit offensive in any case. Flavor is sweet malty with basic balancing bitterness, less but still some of that odd salty/bacony character, a hint of cocoa in the finish. Actually, despite initial odd impressions, grows on me as floral notes appear, the chocolate notes grow, spicy notes come in, the malt makes its presence felt more in the way of raisin bread. Interesting if given a bit of time.

First US rating! Bottle. Pours a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma of yeast, sweet melon, and roasted nuts. Flavor is sweet malt, some roasted malt and roasted nuts. Palate is a little weak, although the beer is rather drinkable. Ok, but not great. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)
