Smells of smoke, light ham, caramel, yeast dough and bavarian hops. Flavor is mild, but with strong hops and grain background. Really good drinking beer, excellent with a meal. Liter draft mug at Hofbrau House Munich. Very good and smooth and easy to drink, went well with the giant pretzel I ate with it. Yum. obguthr (1076), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Aroma is nutty with a bit of cabbage. It pours brown with a medium light tan head and minimal lacing. Flavor is a rather complex blend of smoke, good hops and vegetable, perhaps cauliflower. Intriguing fennel and hop finish. Quite complex and flavorful, but a bit too much of a vegetable quality. It should compliment any meal very well, particularly german food. Sold in a green bottle with no skunkiness. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2007 Pours a transparent mahogany with frothy, well-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet, toasty bready dark caramel malt with a touch of Bavarian hops. Body starts with lightly sweet dark caramel maltiness along with decent bittering hop presence and earthiness toward a thinner finish. A pretty decent dunkel. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

Roatsed malt aroma, some burnt sugar, cocoa and chocolate notes. Malty flavor, roasted, chocolate notes, quite a sharp finish with some hops. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | May 27, 2007 This is the best Dunkel I have ever tatsed. I love this beer, but too bad the brewery still insists on exporting the dreaded green bottle. I rarely get to enjoy this un-skunked, but when I do its like heaven. Sweet maltliness almost perfectly balanced by hops. Finishes smooth and eventful. Russo (617), Campinas, Brazil
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2007 Bottle. Dark Brown Color with a nice beige head, the aroma is not so strong, but is like toasted malt, the flavor is amazing, its right on the balance, not so sweet and the bitterness on right point! The mouthfeel is some notes of bitterness and fruit.
