Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Amber colour with a creamy head. Malty, buttery taste with a hint of hops. Rather light mouthfeel, but not too thin anyway.

Ruby/copper colored with smaller head.wheaty spiceness on the nose, a little peppery, evidence of some seductive malts. The malts reveal themselves in a caramel toastyness, and finishes with a clovey pepper spice. Lighter bodied and finishes a little thin, but a quenching aspect is a nice touch at the end.

It’s a tasty beer...really...I’ve been into German brews since the early 1980’s for quality, consistency and price point. This Hofbrau delight is really smooth and tasty, nice amber malts, rich and easy to drink, full bodied but not out there. Smooth and lovely caramel malt beer is easy to drink. Copper with a little head at first bottle pour. Lovely!!

This is definitely a nice maibock, a little sweet with lots of caramel and bittersweet malt, a very nice large head, and an appetizing copper color.

On tap 1/2 liter. Poured light amber with a full white head. The aroma was overwhelmingly honey. The taste was also full of honey but was not too sweet and was quite pleasant.

(Bottle) Pours a clear amber with a medium-sized creamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet (fruitiness, caramel) and somewhat musty. Flavor of sweet caramel and mild hops. Tastes really fresh.
