Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Bottle. Poured dark amber with a huge frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate grassy toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a watery texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of short duration.

Big Munich stein of this at the Milwaukee German Beerhall, fresh distinct carmel malt aroma, full grain and carmel malt taste, fuller and thicker body then any other Maibock I have had. A glass stein and a beerhall is probaly the only way to enjoy this.

Poured a clear effervescent dark amber/copper with a fizzy off-whtie head. Fresh aroma of grassy hops, molasses, and biscuit dough. Taste is surprisingly hoppy, with grassy Noble hops sticking out first. There’s s slightly sweet biscuit dough character and a dry toffee taste to it. Finishes somewhat dry. A little hoppier than I like in the style, but not bad.

[Bottled] Bronze colour, creamy head. Piney caramel aroma with a dash of alcohol. Very firm with evident grassy hops and some salty licorice. The sweetness is masked by generous amounts of malt. Medium bitterness.

Clear light amber with a solid off white head. Floral malt aroma with grass clippings and sweetness. Big body. Large malt flavor. Bit of an alcohol burn. Well balanced and clean. Quite nice.
