Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Fantastic spicy aroma, sticky frothy head and perfect clear body. Strongly malty and flavorful, with the hops in there mingling. Some flavors here I can’t quite put my finger on, but I like it. The rest of the 6 pack will be left in the back of the fridge to age for 3 or 4 months.. I think.. or maybe just get a whole case ;)

Pours amber with a one-finger head. Aroma of caramel, German hops, and old cigars. Big caramel flavor, with a musty, lightly hoppy finish. Some of the cigar ash flavor is there, which keeps this from being one I’ll come back to.

I have a completely different bottle than the one to the left. I was thoroughly disappointed by this one. It has an amber color, but no head or lacing to speak of. Only slight carbonation. The aroma consists of some bitter hops. Taste is very disappointing. There’s only a bit of flavoring hops. Very weak body for a bock (even a Helles bock). I bought a six of this stuff. I guess I’ll be chugging it some night or passing it on to friends late at night.

Pours clear light amber with an off-white head and has very lively carbonation. Aroma is very musty malt - kind of a dusty caramel. Starts with smooth musty caramel from the aroma with a bit of prickliness from the carbonation. Finish is roasty sweetness with a hint of spicy hops. A very enjoyable beer.

Not a great maibock. Aroma is quite pleasant, with a spring freshness that is quite nice. However, the flavor is a little sour for my taste, doesn’t seem to carry that "Spring Freshness" over into the taste. Color is a clear amber, no head when poured, don’t think I will get this one again.

12oz. bottle. smells like wet dog. Pours a beautiful brick redwith a fairly viscous white head. Delicious with notes of grapes, and orange and a slightly bitter but refreshing finish of hops. A nice maibock.

Draught at the Brick. Nice easy drinking beer. A little bit of malt, but mostly a rather light german style beer. Tasty but unremarkable

I have not been overly impressed by this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a rich ruby-copper color with a small white head. The aroma is sour and tangy malts. The flavor is malty with elements of brown sugar and nutmeg. The beer turns sour and tangy towards the finish. The nutmeg lingers a bit.
