The grainy nose is what I really like about this beer. Thick, heavy sweetness. A great contrast to the many hoppy brews I’m so fond of. I’ll have to go back tomorrow and buy a case. A bit grainy in the nose, it carries a sweetness like caramel that isn’t bad. Appearance is a deep amber hue. Mouthfeel is full and round. Flavor is fruity and sweet, a bit cloying for me I thought. Overall it’s not a bad bit of brew. zach8270 (2127), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma of sweet malts, nuts, a touch of hops and some vegetables. Very sweet smelling. The flavor begins with a very malty taste with some notes of caramel, alcohol (which I didn’t know was as high as it is), a good nutty flavor and a light touch of hops at the end. The aftertaste is very sweet with a light hop touch. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 5, 2006 Bottle. Just over a pint in total volume. Brownish copper color. Very malty taste but very well balanced and smooth. Great aftertaste and could not taste the alcohol at all. I found this on sale for only a dollar each so I had to get two of them. They were both gone in the same night. I think I may have to go back for some more before they are gone. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

Really roasted grain aroma that reminds me of walking into the Sixpoint brewery when they are brewing Brownstone. Taste is nice and snappy with a great malt/hop balance. Sweet grains are predominant here. A really nice bock. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 18, 2006 Dark orange body with a thin slightly off white head. The aroma is sweet with caramel and light pears. The taste has some nice roasted nuts with some peanut brittle in the finish. There is also a hint of chocolate. This is a nice sweet change of pace. Slick mouthfeel with a little much on the carbonation. TheBeerOrg (1584), Kentucky, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 8, 2006 Pours dark golden with a foamy tan head. Aroma is bready lager yeast, honey, and caramelized wort. Taste is sweet and bready, with notes of toffee and caramel. A little too sweet and simple. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and sticky with dense carbonation. I’d rather have the Ayinger Maibock.
