Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Orange amber with a good sized head. Aroma is sweet malt and a subtle fruit aroma of bananas and raisins. Flavor is sweet malt up front with a nice hops and alcohol backbone. Medium bodied with very light carbonation. The biggest strike against this one was a metallic taste when this was cold but that vanished as it warmed. Not as hoppy as I’m used to in a Maibock but still very good.

Has a malty aroma and pours a golden color with a white head. Starts with a malty flavor and balances out with a nice hoppiness. Has a medium body and aftertaste.

Bottle. Tastes very alcoholic, bitter, slightly malty (nutty?), and sweet. Smells like bananas and alcohol. I don’t have much experience with bock’s yet, but I like it.

A light-amber brew. Alcohol and apple in the aroma. Remote hints of butterscotch. Hints of toffee and butterscotch in the initial flavor. Gets bitterer and a bit roasted to the finish. Alcohols starts to dominate. Medium to full, dry.

It has a refreshing sweet smell. There is also traces of malt and fruit in the nose. Pours out light reddish or orange with a reasonable white head. Tastes of sweet hops and malt. Overall a good bock.

This pours a clear deep amber body that sits under a dense off white head. Fruity malt aroma. Malty and very smooth. Very well done and I’ll buy this again if I see it.
