Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Pours a light orange with a thin sticky white head and nice lace. Aroma is extremely malty- lots of vienna and light munich malts. Lots of bready malts, nuts, and sweet caramel. Flavor is big sweet and malty with some hops in the aftertaste. Extremely smooth- not harsh or cloying.

Sweet and mlaty nose, some caramel, slight note of alcohol. Amber colored, served in a nice HB stein. Lovely sweet malt flavor, ends light hoppy. Good one.

Bottled. Light amber coloured, with a huge off-white head. Nose of sweet malt, fruit and yeast. It has a sweet soft flavor, with notes of roasted malt, caramel and fruit.

Clear bright amber-copper color with a nice foamy lasting off white head that leaves some lacing in my glass. Has a sweet fruity and nutty aroma. Sweet and malty roasty caramel, honey flavors that has a sweet lasting finish, medium body with a slick and smooth mouthfeel, alcohol well hidden, very nice.

Poured a bright candy red with an initially towering inferno of bubbles that settled into a nice cushion of a head. Light caramel aroma. Sugary caramel flavors, but disappointingly flat-feeling..

Bottled. Light herbal, grain and a hint of apple in the aroma. Amber color, off-white head, fair lace. Light sweet, bitter, apple in the flavor as well, bit of butter and even some roastiness althought it’s a helles, quite alcoholic. Another style I must stop rating. There’s just nothing going on for me in maibock.

Bottled: Served by Jacob @ Ølbaren in stein, but pours a light amber colour. Has a dense off white head. Berries, malt and has some undefined freshness in the aroma. Malt, sweetness, fruit and alcohol in the flavour. Some light caramel notes. Is grassy and light alcoholdense in the end. Gives a light warmth on the lips. Quite refreshing.

Starts off very good with some coffee and caramel flavors. The finish dropped down to a metallic, musty thing that definitely lost points for me. If the start carried through, this would be a top beer.
