Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Discount Liquors, Milwaukee, WI. - 500 ml bottle. Purs a bright orange with a decent sized, sticky mocha colored head. Fresh lake water aroma with some caramel accents. Flavor is somewhat mellow and subdued for a bock. Hints of molasses, caramel and a wee bit of alcohol, but it is hidden rather well for 7.2%. Very easy drinking bock. Mouthfel is rather thick and creamy. Average, inching toward above average bock.

Bottled. Clear orange coloured with a creamy off white head. Sweet malty aroma with lots of caramel and notes of fruits. Sweet flavour of dark bread with notes of malts and an OK hoppy finish.

Not my favorite style to begin with, I should forewarn. Copper brown, decent but fading head. Aroma was of candied brocolli, that combination of malt and hops that I just don’t care for. Flavor was sweet, with more brocolli and some sour bread. Not my thing. It did get better as it warmed, reducing the sour note and bringing out some caramel. But just not my bag.

Draught at the Hofbrauhaus in Las Vegas. Pours a medium copper with great head and lacing. Sweet malt nose. Balanced malt flavor with a light hop bite. Crisp and refreshing. Good bock.

(on bottle-cheers joss) Dark Abricot colour, white head, fast gone though. Aroma of alcohol and a hint of candid rubarb and vanilla. Hard lashing carbonation and a tangy bitterness, in both taste and finish, makes it an agreeable swilldrink. Now let´s watch some fussball.
