Aroma of floral hops, grain, some grass, caramel and smoke. Flavor has notes of toasted grain, toffee, caramel, dark fruits, a good dose of hops with a nice backdrop of smoke. Pleasantly sweet, some bitterness in there too. Medium, silky smooth body with subtle carbonation - coats the mouth very nicely. Great head retention. A multi-dimensional brew, I recommend it. pivo (2537), Germany

Sweet caramelly malt taste and aroma. A celery-like flavor in the middle with an oaky drying finsih. Medium body, creamy mouth feel. Good, classy beer. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA

Metallic aroma at first pour was off-puting, but I say that about a lot of German lagers. Tastes like an extra thick oktoberfest, with less bittering hops. Fine, fine lager overall. Malty but not overwhelming. Clean finish no aftertaste. Wish the actual hofbrauhouse served this beer regularly Saarlander (1589), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

I couldn’t detect much of an alcohol bite, that was nice for me. Will drink again. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2005 Copper amber color. Medium to large sized head. Aroma is caramel, toffee and sweet. A medium bodied bock. Malts are fairly sweet, lots of toffee and caramel flavors. Fairly complex malt flavors. Touch of an alcohol bite. Smooth taste. Nice bock, there is a lot of different malt flavors going on here. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a touch of malt. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA

Poured light amber with a thin whte head. Aroma had gin and tonic, caramel malts, brown sugar, honey and cider. Taste is very pleasant with a good cider and gin and tonic feel throughout. Very nicely done.
