Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Aroma is a syrupy sweet but not necessarily in a good way. Flavor is dusty and astringent. Either this brew is overrated or I got an old bottle. No good.

Amber color with a large white head. Aroma of sweet malt with a hint of hops. Sweet malt continues and dominates the flavor with a mild hop finish. Lots of flavor. Smooth, easy to drink. Alcohol is present but not overly so.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a big off-white head. Caramel flavor. Light body, easy to drink. Grassy, spicey aroma. Just not enough.

(bottle) red/copper colour with medium frothy off-white head. The aroma is very caramellish with malts and well blended aromatic hops. The taste is also malty with caramel, but far away from being sweet, rounded up with hops and hints of vanilla and nuts. A smooth, not too alcoholic Maibock.

Appearance: Dark amber with a big head. Smells of sweet malts. Flavos is sweet maltiness and a bit of candy-funkiness. Not overly impressed.

Bottle: Dark amber, almost ruby-red, coloured, firm yellowish foam; highly aromatic malty nose with some tinge of candy; fll, creamy body; very soft and extremely well rounded; nutty flavour, ending in a distinctive but harmonic bitterness; this Maibock is very moreish.......
