Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

Draught @ Svea, Malmö. Pours a clear amber color with a longlasting white head. Has a fruity floral aroma with some maltiness. Sweet malty fruity and slightly floral flavor with some hints of caramel. Warming and slightly alcoholic malty caramel finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured transparent copper orange, medium carbonation, razor thin white head bubbled away rather quickly with an ever so slight sign of lacing. Very faint aroma of malt, uncooked donuts, and armpits- ugh! Hits the mouth with a high-light body, malt is distinguishable but very light, luckily for me the aroma didn’t carry over to the taste (!), a dull sweetness in the middle, finish has an enjoyable hop zing to it.

(Draught at MacKinlay’s Inn, Stockholm) Copper colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with citrussy notes of dried fruit, caramel and spicy hops. Malty taste with dried fruit, dark bread (sour dough), apricots, caramel and spicy hops in the finish. Some sweetness, but well balanced by malt and spicy hops. Very tasty and really nice.

500 ml bottle: poured a brilliant copper color with a medium sized, yellowish head. Malty aroma with some earthiness. Flavor is earthy, mildly bitter, with some caramel notes. Sticky. Good beer.

Very good beer. First time I have had a Maibock. Poured from tap by Rob at Oldsmar Tap House, this was delicious kinda smokey, fruity and coffee hints all hit my palate.

Aroma was of spice and bitterness. Flavor was malty with more spice and a light bitter finish. Good German brew. May buy again.
