Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

12 ounce green bottle from a 6 pack that was purchased at the Nugget in Vacaville, CA. Floral, grainy, lightly sweet grainy aroma. Pleasant. Light amber/copper body that is transparent. Medium-small off-yellow head. Start is a bit floral, cereal-like, grainy, and lightly metallic. Nice roasty malts with a lightly herbal hop finish. I am typically not a fan of this style, but this is flavorful and subtle. Much better than many American interpretations.

Light orange color with thin lasting white head; typical aroma for style(malty/grainy) but on the light side; flavor is also typical but above average; finishes long nice malty/grainy some dryness.

12 oz green bottle. Light amber with fine offwhite moderate head with some persistance. Aroma of carmel malt sweetness with a hint of german hop aroma. No skunkiness on this bottle. Flavor of carmel sweet malt with a hint of spice-clove and bananna. Malt sweetness lasts well into finish. Classic example of maibock style, malt accentuated with just enough hops to ballance out. YUM

Amber beer with thin white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and fruits. And apples. Taste of caramel and sweet malts. Very malty, as expected. Decent bock.

I tried this one from a bottle. Very nice nutty aroma. Looks stunning in the glass with its rich amber color and medium-sized white foamy head. Flavor is fairly malty, smooth tasty caramel finish. CO2 level could have been a little higher. I would not partake in too many of these in the heat of our Florida summer, but definitely my favorite with food as it is not too heavy or filling.

Bottle, 330ml. A clear dark red colour. Aroma is hoppy with caramel. Taste has fresh hops with more caramel and malt. Nice enough, but not very exciting.

Deep copper, but clear, with and oarangish tint and moderate bubbing. 2inch dirty-white, frothy head that lasts a while and leaves good lacing on the glass. This brew gives off the aroma of nothing but full flavored malts, and floral hops. Tastes good. Flavor is rich and full... malty, of course, but despite being a heller bock, quite the amount of nice, balancing hops as well. Very satisfying, not an attribute that can be given to "most" beers. Feel is a little heavy, so know that ahead of time and enjoy accodingly. Finish is full and leaves a light malty aftertaste.
